A pre-fall heat wave in Toronto is the perfect time to get the last uses of your summer wardrobe while piecing in some of your new favorite fall items. This Fashionista caught my eye with her summer white dress paired with black ankle boots and a floppy black fedora. The cool boho style is a great teaser for fall while still incorporating summer clothes. This is the perfect outfit for roaming the campus and keeping cool during the heat.

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Melissa Mendes: I’m wearing a white Brandy Melville backless dress, black Chelsea boots from Topshop and a black clipperton fedora from Free People.
CF: What would you say influences your personal style?
MM: I guess just seeing street style and social media a lot. Social media plays a big role, like LookBook and Instagram, that all plays a really big part. And I obviously keep up with the trends, seasons and fashion weeks.
CF: If you could raid anyone’s closet, who’s would it be and why?
MM: Chloe Sevigny. She experiments a lot with different pieces that normally. I like that she works a lot with leather pieces and she brings a lot back. She wears a bunch of old luxury brands such as old Versace. It’s all so great.
CF: What colors and trends are you looking forward to this fall?
MM: Black. I always wear black. There’s really nothing else. I’m really excited for fall jackets and getting the beiges and fall colors to match the leaves.
How To: Copy this Fashionista’s outfit by finding a loose fitting white dress and adding a black floppy hat. A pair of black leather booties finish the outfit. For small extras, put on a chunky necklace or a pair of detailed socks.
