At the beginning of each season, fashion enthusiasts wait patiently for the reveal of the season’s “it” color. This fall, it appears that oxblood is going to be the most sought out shade. However, there is one classic color that never appears to go out of style — black. Inspired by simple cuts and straight lines, this Fashionista effortlessly rocked a black and tan striped maxi skirt paired with a black crop top as she reacquainted herself with campus. Read on to find out what her favorite looks for the fall season are.
Name: Meghan Murray
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Meghan Murray: I am wearing a cropped top from Body Central and a maxi skirt from the Missoni line for Target. My sandals are from DSW.
CF: What do you like to put with a maxi skirt besides cropped tops?
MM: Sometimes I wear a solid-colored T-shirt and tuck it in with a belt. I like adding a pop of color if I am wearing a plain black skirt. If I am feeling lazy, I usually just wear a tank.
CF: How would you describe your wardrobe?
MM: Plain but sophisticated. I like classic cuts and styles; I am not too into patterns. I’m not much of an accessories person either, but I try to add some edge to all my outfits.
CF: What will you wear a lot of this fall?
MM: Because of the weather here in Pittsburgh, I will be wearing a lot of fun printed scarves. I’m also excited about wearing a lot of military green. Army-inspired clothing seems really big for the fall season.
How To: This look is perfect for an afternoon stroll or a day of traveling. Start off by choosing either a simple black maxi skirt or a printed colorful one, whatever is more your style. Next, pair your skirt with a low-key top, such as a plain crop top, jean jacket or vest. Add a bold statement necklace to make your outfit really pop. Don’t own a maxi skirt? That’s no problem! Throw a baggy sweater over your favorite maxi dress to create the same look.
