Shorts season may not yet be in full throttle in the Midwest but that does not mean we cannot take advantage of some of the pieces from our newly purchased spring wardrobe. As the cold begins to find its home somewhere more welcoming, it is exciting to think of a whole season of new wardrobes. We might as well start the transition off right. With pieces such as tank tops and shorts, it can be easy to incorporate some warmth into our cold weather gear. Sporting shorts in the fresh snow, this Fashionista is not afraid of the cold and does not let it stand in the way of her style.
Name: Megan McDermott
Major: Environmental Health
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Megan McDermott: Definitely casual. If I feel comfortable in what I’m wearing I usually have a better time. Every once in a while I like to bring out a cute dress and heels.
CF: What celebrity do you think has great style?
MM: I really like Mila Kunis’ style. She keeps it casual but uses layers like scarves and jackets to make it her own.
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop?
MM: I’m a fan of H&M and J.Crew. Here in town I’ll go to T.J. Maxx and try to dig through the racks to find the hidden gems.
CF: How do your interests influence what you wear?
MM: I like working out a lot so I find myself buying a bunch of cute workout clothes like yoga pants and half-zip jackets.
How To: When in need of new ways to dress up our cold weather-wear, this week’s Fashionista gives us the perfect solution. With tights to keep cozy in cut-offs and a trench cardigan for a little extra warmth, nothing stands in the way of style. Simple tights look great but do not be afraid to try a detailed pair like these as well. As the season ends, get the rest of the use out of your black combat boots. Complete with a simple tank and some fun accessories.
