Have you ever had days when you go to class in just jeans and a T-shirt and love your outfit due to its simplicity and then all of the sudden see someone who makes a simple outfit ten times better? I have. Ever since the start of the first semester, I have seen this Fashionista all over campus in outfits that are practically perfect and accessorized just the right amount; while being completely envious that I did not have her closet. What caught my eye on this Fashionista was her adorable hat! Even though the days here in Oxford have been gloomy and rainy, this Fashionista certainly does not let the clouds stop her from shining when it comes to her outfits.
Name: Meg Dewire
Major: Undeclared; Applying into Farmer School of Business to major in Marketing
CollegeFashionista: What is a staple item in your wardrobe?
Meg Dewire: My staple is for sure my dark blue button-down. It seriously goes with anything and is very versatile! I wear it all the time.
CF: Has your style changed since coming to Miami?
MD: My style hasn’t really changed much, I have always been a prepster. I am mostly preppy but lately I have been throwing in a little bit of hippy into the mix.
CF: What are you wearing?
MD: I am wearing a Ralph Lauren button-down that I actually got at Goodwill! My sweater is from H&M that I got on super sale…holla! My leggings are from aerie, and so comfy. My boots are Calvin Klein paired with my Dooney & Bourke bag! And lastly, my hat is DSW. My hat is special because I was wearing it on move in day so it always makes me think Miami whenever I wear it.
How To: This outfit is so simple and cute and will be a piece of cake for all you Fashionistas who are trying to recreate this look. For starters, black leggings paired with dark brown or tan riding boots; no booties, it would distract from the other pieces in the outfit. A chambray shirt or a plain colored button-down like this Fashionista has on, is the next component for your outfit. Every Fashionista and Fashionisto needs a jacket, and the oversized cardigan is the perfect substation for your “every day” jacket. It also gives contributes to the relaxed feeling of the look.
As for the hat, it can be colored or neutral, but floppy is a must! A floppy hat is the best accessory for a simple outfit and even good for those rainy days. Lastly, choose a bag that provides contrast. This Fashionista had a black bag with tan boots, which was risky. Do not be afraid to take risks Fashionistas, and never let bad weather put a damper on your style!
