Everyone on campus is ecstatic for the warmer weather that’s finally developing; and with excitement comes motivation to dress up. Almost every girl on campus wore a dress and every guy sported shorts. But what grabbed my attention for this Fashionista’s style instead of anyone else was her laid back and feminine, yet edgy, look. Her style looked effortlessly thrown together and didn’t look over done. It had just the right balance of flare and comfort that reminded me of an outfit perfect for any Fashionista trying to stay cool and chic in the heat.
Name: Mary Mudd
CollegeFashionista: Can you describe what you’re wearing today and where you got it?
Mary Mudd: I’m wearing a green sun dress from Ross and my sparkly gold backpack is form Target.
CF: What are ways that you stay chic and cool when going to class on hot days?
MM: I definitely gravitate towards any of my clothing that’s made out of lighter fabric. A maxi skirt is a great way to keep stylish and cool.
CF: What inspires your day-to-day look?
MM: If I had to say a person I would say Miley Cyrus, but otherwise I like being comfortable and cute, so of course that’s the feminine side of my style. But I like being different and androgynous with my style sometimes, too.
CF: What’s your perfect outfit that would summarize your edgy and feminine style?
MM: A maxi dress paired with a leather jacket.
How To: It’s all about being simple and chic in order to remain cool. Grab a light weight dress that’s free flowing to get a better breeze like this mid-length dress from Forever 21. Next I would add some cool accessories like a glittery gold backpack like this Fashionista’s or, for a more subtle look, a pair of glittery TOMS shoes, which are perfect for walking to class on a hot days.
