I was naive enough to think that after a consecutive week of 70-degree weather we would finally be free of having to bundle up, wear a scarf and order a hot coffee to keep us warm. Although I do have to admit I’ve seen some of the cutest looks around when it’s not hot, but not freezing either. This Fashionista caught my eye because of her classic neutral-colored outfit paired with a pair of cool shimmery sneakers.

CollegeFashionista: Cute outfit! Tell us what you’re wearing.
Maria Claudia Galli: I bought both the top and the pants from a small local boutique in Bali. The sneakers are from Hogan, my coat is from Zara and my aviator sunglasses are Ray-Ban.
CF: So how would you describe your style?
MCG: I wouldn’t say I have just one style. I’m pretty versatile! Actually, what I wear depends mostly on my mood and how I’m feeling — that influences what I wear a lot. The weather I wake up to definitely influences my way of dressing.
CF: What advice would you give to Fashionistas who are on a budget?
MCG: My advice for Fashionistas on a budget is to keep it simple. You don’t have to wear something extremely elaborate to look good. A couple of basic pieces put together can make you look great. After all, it’s all about the shoes and the bag! So I’d invest in those. Remember to always wear something you feel good in — that shows!
How To: To recreate this Fashionista’s look, find those perfect black jeans (it’s a must to have a good pair of black jeans). I am in love with these J.Crew toothpick jeans. Get a jacket that you can use a lot. I’d go for neutral colors because it’s easier to mix and match with neutral colors. This Zara one has a great cut. Top your outfit with the perfect pair of sneakers. These Hogan sneakers are just awesome if you ask me.
