Bring on the brighter days, frozen yogurt runs and light jackets because spring has finally reached Iowa City. With it comes the beloved army green jacket. The popular fall piece is making its way back into the outfits of Fashionstas and Fashionistos alike. The key is accessorizing it differently each season. It’s a great way to rewear that piece you loved sporting all fall. I specifically liked how this Fashionista paired hers with Converse and slightly cuffed skinny jeans to give her look a casual cool vibe.

CollegeFashionista: Describe what you’re wearing and the thought behind it.
Maggie Pryde: I am wearing a burnt red Free People scarf, army green Jack jacket from Dulcinea in Iowa City, a plain white T-shirt and an oversized purse/school bag from Forever 21, Hudson Jeans from Nori in Iowa City and white Converse. I chose this outfit knowing I had a full day of classes ahead. I wanted something comfortable and casual. These pieces screamed spring to me, and with the 50 degree weather we have been having, I thought it seemed appropriate! Lately anything army green, plaid or jean has been a definite go-to for me.
CF: How does your mood affect your day to day outfit choices?
MP: My mood definitely affects my day to day outfit choices. For example, on Mondays after a long, fun weekend, you can usually catch me in oversized sweaters and yoga pants, reflecting the Monday blues I am experiencing. By the time it is Friday and I am in a more cheerful mood, I start putting more effort into my outfit choices and focus more on fashion rather than just comfort.
CF: What is the newest addition to your closet?
MP: The newest addition to my closet is on its way in the mail currently and I couldn’t be more excited! It is a sand-colored, large-brimmed straw hat from Free People.
CF: If you could have any movie character’s wardrobe, whose would it be?
MP: It is hard for me to choose one exact movie character, but I would have to say any movie Jennifer Anniston is in. Her wardrobe remains somewhat the same: relaxed, natural and simple yet sophisticated. This is exactly what I love and shoot for in my own wardrobe. My second choice would be Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City because her clothes are fabulous at all times.
How To: Step into the spring season in style with a pair of skinny jeans and Converse. Layer with a fitted, lightweight jacket that has been hibernating in your closet all winter long. Finish the look off with a scarf, vibrant nail polish and some colorful arm candy.
