Fashionista Spotlight

Just because fall weather has fully descended upon us does not mean you can’t rock some awesome colors this season. Save the neons for summer (don’t go overboard) but some eye-catching pastels are just what the bleak weather, especially here in Atlanta, calls for. So many people stick to dark hues and shades when the weather gets colder, but that doesn’t mean that dark colors have to be a 24/7 staple. Honestly, who doesn’t get tired of seeing browns and blacks? It can be rather depressing. Instead of conforming to the usual trend of fall, make a statement this season! While your peers may be rocking the edgy all black look, you can mix it up a little with some advice from this week’s Fashionista!

Name: Madison Mounty

Major: Pre-Business/Psychology

Year: Freshman

College Fashionista: What inspired your outfit today?

Madison Mounty: It was sort of warm today and I wanted something comfortable but bright and fun at the same time. I also just wanted to wear my printed jeans, so that happened.

CF: What is your fall staple?

MM: My fall staple is ballet flats. They’re pretty much the only shoe I own, I have so many pairs and I wear them basically everyday.

CF: Who’s your style icon?

MM: Blake Lively because she is always perfectly dressed and always classy – all without a stylist. Victoria Beckham because she always looks polished and put together and Olivia Palermo because she’s not afraid to try bold trends and can wear a little bit of everything and make a complete look every time.

CF: What are your favorite brands and designers?

MM: Joie, Rag & Bone, I like J.Crew, Rebecca Taylor, and I like Marc Jacobs too. Oh, and Parker, I really like Parker and Theory as well!

CF: How would you describe your personal style?

MM: I guess I try and be on trend but still kind of individual. I love a lot of color but the things I wear also have to be comfortable. I like anything that looks polished, fabulous and put together.

How To: The key piece of this outfit is obviously those awesome, marbled pants. Those bad boys can be pretty hard to find but you can settle for some color-popping patterned pants instead and still rock this look. The sweater is pretty standard in the sense that it should be neutral to tether your look down. Find some metallic flats and pair them with a charming necklace to add some glam to the look. Remember to keep the accessories delicate and classy. Lastly, the bag. If you don’t have it in you to snag a Louis Vuitton, there are other options! Go with the classic Longchamp and you’ll be decked out perfectly! This look is truly unique and the most important thing is to have fun with it!
