Fashionista Spotlight

This past St. Patrick’s Day was full of festive frocks and green everything. While some outfits were more outlandish than others, there was still plenty of spirited style to be found on campus. Lucky for me, I saw this beautiful lady walking down the street in her classic look. The only thing green about this outfit was my envy for her ombré hair and awesome belt buckle. Well okay, her sweater was green, too. This Fashionista set her look apart by pairing her favorite jeans and timeless sweater with a beautiful scarf and unique belt. Despite her desire to ditch her parka and cozy, sweater boots, this Fashionista was still able to work it.

Name: Lora Reynolds

Major: Landscape Architecture

Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: Where do you get your style inspiration?

Lora Reynolds: I like to get my inspiration from women in the 1960′s. I love styles like Janis Joplin’s.

CF: How do you work that inspiration into your everyday style?

LR: I like to wear scarves and bangles. Accessories are important.

CF: Do you have a favorite thing to wear?

LR: I really have a thing for belts.

CF: How would you describe your overall style?

LR: Earthy and organic. Jeans are my comfort, but I like to spice them up with things in jewel tones and deep colors.

CF: Is there anything you are looking forward to for the spring?

LR: I really want some bright red pants! Other than that, I am excited for dresses!

How To: The key to achieving this Fashionista’s earthy, chic look is to find timeless pieces. Invest in a sweater that is classic and will last you forever. Jeans will never go out of style, so they’re worth an investment as well. Just complete your timeless look with some trendy accessories—like this scarf and belt—and you’ll be ready to go.
