Name: Lindsay Galeste
CollegeFashionista: What is your style like?
Lindsay Galeste: I would describe my personal style as relaxed with a Southern California influence. It’s typical Californian beach looks. A lot of my clothes are very comfortable and loose.
CF: What is your favorite clothing item to shop for and wear?
LG: I really like jeans! I think a nice, well fitting pair of jeans can really make or break an outfit.
CF: Where do you shop for your jeans?
LG: I really like the jeans selection at Nordstrom. I like the brand Joe’s Jeans. I’ll get some of my trendier clothes from H&M and I like The Gap for classic items like a white T-shirt. I also like to shop at J.Crew for preppier items and capri pants.
CF: Do you have a favorite accessory?
LG: Scarves are definitely my favorite accessory. I like to collect them, especially when I’m traveling. For summer, I really look for bright colored, patterned scarves that are light and fluffy. For winter, I look for slightly more practical scarves that are darker in color. I also like infinity scarves. They make it a lot easier so you don’t have to worry about arranging and tying your scarf—it’s pre-arranged.
CF: What do you typically wear to class?
LG: Jeans, a T-shirt and probably a scarf. Sometimes I will throw on a sweater if it is cold out, or I’ll wear Rainbow flip flops if it’s warm.
CF: Who are some of your style icons?
LG: Lauren Conrad and Coco Chanel. I’ll also look at the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere for outfit ideas. I also take a lot of inspiration from the character Serena van der Woodsen from the show Gossip Girl.
How To: Take a hint from this Fashionista and wear a simple, beachy outfit with a scarf. Aim to wear neutral colors and a scarf with a bold pattern or hue. Pair it with flip flops and ripped jeans for a SoCal-inspired chic look.
