FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Lilliana De Ciantis

Fashionista Spotlight

The flowers outside are not the only things that are blooming in the transition into spring as the floral trend proves its appearance in the fashion world from runways to stores. I don’t know about you but there is nothing that makes me more excited for spring than seeing and wearing a floral print!

While floral fashion has been prominent for many years in the past, it has sparked a new interest with its versatility as floral prints are now on denim, crop tops, shorts, bralettes and heels. I spotted this Fashionista taking full advantage of the spring weather by wearing the fun and flirty trend in her own unique way!

Name: Lilliana De Ciantis

Year: Sophomore

Major: Visual Communications

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Lilliana De Ciantis: I am wearing a sheer floral dress from Forever 21 with an Urban Outfitters jean jacket layered on top and black knee-high socks under Timberland rain boots.

CF: Describe your style in one word.

LD: Painless.

CF: What are the essentials in your closet?

LD: A sturdy crossbody bag, a good pullover sweatshirt and practical boots.

CF: If you had to dress fashionably in five minutes, what would you wear and why?

LD: I would wear a pair of boyfriend jeans, a white T-shirt, T-strap heeled sandals and a statement necklace because it looks chic without requiring too much effort.

CF: What are some trends and styles that people can spot you wearing on campus in the spring?

LD: People can definitely spot me in a pair of rainboots. Although I love my pair of Timberlands, I also love Hunter rainboots. When it comes to colors and patterns I love the color-blocking trend as well as wearing fun floral patterns.

How To: Find your perfect floral statement piece! Whether it be a flirty dress, a pair of jeans or a scarf, there are many ways to wear this fashion. Try pairing a subtle pattern on top and floral on bottom to make a daring, yet bold statement. Or wear the print with more feminine accessories such as a light cardigan, simple jewelry and a great pair of flats. I personally like how this Fashionista rocked the trend by balancing femininity with more masculine pieces, like her denim moto jacket and Timberland rainboots. As we transition into the new season, do not be afraid of blossoming yourself by trying out trends and making them your own!
