For college students who often have early classes, it’s hard to actually take the time to get ready in the morning. However, this Fashionista is proof that even with morning classes, you can have a stylish, yet casual, layered look. The key is to be comfortable in what you’re wearing and plan for the weather.
Name: Lauren Munoz
Major: Health Science
CollegeFashionista: What colors do you like to wear the most?
Lauren Munoz: I mainly wear tans and browns. I try to incorporate other colors to add variety in my wardrobe but I’m always more attracted to the neutral colors, like my outfit today. I think these colors match my skin tone the best.
CF: What is your favorite item of clothing?
LM: My Nike Free Runs and work out pants. They fit well and look nicer than sweats so I can be comfortable and still look cute at school.
CF: What style advice would you give to other Fashionistas?
LM: If you are shopping and you don’t absolutely love something and aren’t completely comfortable with the fit, then don’t buy it. Chances are it will stay in your closet for a while with the tag still on it because you didn’t really love it to begin with. That’s how I wasted money before.
CF: How do you prepare for the inconsistent California weather?
LM: During fall and winter, I always carry a jacket with me and wear a shirt that isn’t too warm since the weather is so unpredictable. That way I have options just in case it gets too hot or a little chilly.
CF: What inspires your style?
LM: I think Instagram does to be honest. I see posts from girls with cute outfits and I either like parts of the outfit or the color combination.
How To: In order to recreate this outfit, start with a great pair of jeans. If you don’t already have an essential go-to pair, Gap and Levi’s specialize in great fitting jeans. Next, add a tank top for those times when the California weather becomes unpredictable. Then, layer on a cardigan and leather jacket. Choose whatever colors you feel best match your skin tone, like this Fashionista did. Lastly, a pair of riding boots and a simple necklace finalize the look. If you’re ever feeling uninspired, look through Instagram and you may just find an idea for your next outfit!
