This Fashionista knows a good trend when she sees one. Her jeans are trendy for more than one reason. Reason one: they’re colored jeans. Colored jeans had a moment this past spring and fall and were a must-have. Reason two: the emerald green color is totally in for the fall. Switching the pale pastel jeans from the warmer months to this darker deeper green is a necessary change for the fall. Reason three: the tuxedo stripe down the side of the legs. These gives the pants a sleek and slimming look and are another big trend for the upcoming season (especially on slouchy pants). These pants alone were enough for me to stop this trend-rocking Fashionista. They’re from American Eagle Outfitters.
Name: Lauren Calcagnino
Major: Speech and Hearing Sciences
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Lauren Calcagnino: Comfy but cute. Most of the time I don’t get too dressed up for class but I love wearing jeans and a graphic T-shirt any day.
CF: Where do you like to shop?
LC: American Eagle Outfitters, Express, Garage, PacSun and Forever 21. I’m a college girl with a tight budget for clothes right now.
CF: If price weren’t an issue, what would you buy?
LC: Michael Kors watch and bags. I love his designs. They are so classic and still so fresh.
CF: Is there anything that influences your personal style?
LC: Sometimes I will go on Pinterest to see what the magazines are pinning and to get outfit ideas from the fashionable pinners of the world. I also like to read magazines.
CF: What celebrity’s style do you love?
LC: I love Lauren Conrad’s style. She is always dressed nicely but never looks like she is trying too hard (And we have the same initials).
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet?
LC: My black and mint green dress with cutouts on the sides of the ribs.
CF: What are you looking forward to wearing this fall?
LC: I can’t wait to wear lots of boots, oversized sweaters and leggings. That is my go-to combination for the fall.
How To: Start with a colored pair of jeans. For an exact replica of this Fashionista’s look, try deep green or emerald colored jeans. The tuxedo stripe down the side of this Fashionista’s jeans can be found in many stores right now and would help you to achieve a similar look, even if the pants aren’t the same color. A black sheer three quarter sleeve top simplifies the look. A pair of black combat boots will add some edge to your outfit.
