With the dreaded winter finally a thing of the past, students on Colgate’s campus are busting out shorts and sundresses at the first sight of sun. While relaxing with some friends on the Academic Quad, this Fashionista welcomed the sunshine whole-heartedly with her polka-dot and sunflower dress. Although simple and understated, this Fashionista’s outfit is perfect for hanging out with friends on a beautiful spring day!
Name: Kyra Conciatori
CollegeFashionista: What’s your favorite part about your outfit?
Kyra Conciatori: My favorite part are my shoes. After wearing L.L.Bean boots every day for 5 months straight, it feels so good to wear cute shoes and not have to trudge through the snow everyday.
CF: What’s your favorite season for fashion?
KC: Definitely spring or summer.
CF: How would you describe your body type and how do you dress for it?
KC: I’m only 5’2 so I sometimes try to wear things that elongate my body like high-waisted skirts. I try to avoid maxi dresses and skirts even though I think they’re really cute.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
KC: My personal style is very casual and sporty, but I also love sundresses because they’re cute and really easy. Although I probably should, I don’t own any heels because I’m perfectly happy in my Vans, sneakers or boots. When it gets too cold for dresses and shorts, my go-to outfit is usually a long sleeved T-shirt and a vest.
CF: Who is your fashion icon?
KC: I don’t really have a fashion icon, but I have a twin sister and she has really good clothes and is always up to date on the trends, so I like to borrow her clothes. Her outfits keep me updated on the fashion world.
How To: This Fashionista is simple, casual, but also very fashion forward. Sunflowers are an emerging pattern I’ve noticed this season and are a great way to welcome sunny days and warm weather. For this look, pair a fun baby doll dress with a mid-thigh length cardigan. Like this petite Fashionista did, avoid tall boots and opt for booties in order to elongate your legs. Add a simple necklace and voiá, you’re ready for a meeting with a professor or a casual picnic on the ski hill!
