I’m officially moved back to Toronto now, and it feels good! While still warm outside, the weather allows so much versatility when it comes to clothing. Whether you want to wear a tank top and jeans or shorts and a jacket, the early fall is beginning to look very fashionable. I found this Fashionista on the Ryerson campus wearing detailed leather shorts and a deep maroon jacket. Her casual chic outfit is comfortable, polished and completely fall ready.
Name: Kelsey Titmarsh
Major: Fashion Design
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Kelsey Titmarsh: I’m wearing a Wilfred silk camisole and a Wilfred crepe jacket in the new fall color. I’m also wearing leather shorts from Zara, as well as Jeffrey Campbell booties. My bag is Foley + Corinna and I made my necklace with things that I’ve found from traveling.
CF: What public figures inspire your style?
KT: I love Whitney Port. I also like Blake Lively and Pia Mia.
CF: Are brands important when you go shopping?
KT: I don’t buy clothes just because of the brand, but I find I like more things that are brand named. They tend to produce the styles that I like. I don’t know if I’m influenced by that without knowing, but I don’t buy it just because of the name. I buy [clothes] because I like [them].
CF: What’s your favorite season to shop for, and why?
KT: Fall because I really like to layer, and I love the fall colors this upcoming season.
CF: Do you find you dress differently when traveling or moving around?
KT: I definitely dress differently for certain occasions. When I’m away, I bring more versatile items like maxi skirts, that I can wear during the day and at night during travel. That, or gym clothes because all I do is train when I’m away.
How To: Put away the pastels from spring and summer, and opt for a deeper color such as maroon, forest green or chocolate brown. An easy way to allow versatility in your closet is to mix and match neutral colors with texture, such as this Fashionista’s camisole, or leather shorts. Then add the color with a fall jacket or jewelry. A classic oversized handbag slung over your arm will really make the outfit look finished, along with a pair of black ankle boots.
