This Fashionista is a nominee for Best Dressed at Spelman College in the Sophomore Awards Show this week! Despite her effortless style Kelsey doesn’t want to go into fashion, but desires to be a child psychologist after her matriculation through Spelman College. This Fashionista certainly knows how to thrift! She surfed the internet for this trendy necklace she is wearing, and her purse is from a thrift store as well. These items are very cheap and chic. Take notes, because Kelsey can thrift with the best of them. She also has an international flair; she wears a lot items she brought back with her from her recent stay in Korea.
Name: Kelsey Curley
CollegeFashionista: How has Spelman College influenced or changed your style?
Kelsey Curley: Spelman has helped me to become more free with my style. In high school there were dress codes that prevented me from wearing some of the things I do today. I love being able to wear what I want.
CF: Who or what inspires your style?
KC: Definitely my older sisters. They’ve always had styles that I love. They keep me hip!
CF: What is your favorite item of your wardrobe?
KC: Probably my chunky heels. Simply because they are so comfortable.
CF: Do you have any styling tips you’d like to share with the readers?
KC: Most of my best stuff comes from thrifting. So if you haven’t been to a thrift store you should go! You’d be surprised at the things you can find.
CF: If you could style anybody, who would it be and for what occasion?
KC: Probably a friend for a birthday or something. I know how to shop on a college student budget.
How To: Pair this sleeveless blue striped shirt with gray denim pants. You can wear a Dooney & Bourke black and brown leather Sling Bag just like this Fashionista with this outfit. Add a dark gray beanie with this 24″ chunky chain necklace like Kelsey’s for your accessories. And lastly, pick a black or brown pair of chunky Jeffrey Campbell style heels.
