I don’t know about you, but I have reached the point where I just want to leave my apartment in workout clothes and sneakers. I feel like my mother as I write this, but none of my other shoes are as comfortable as my sneakers. As tempting as it can be to throw them on with some workout pants and a tank top on a daily basis, I do restrain and make an effort to put on real clothes every morning. For days like those, it is vital to have a pair of go-to cut-offs and sneakers. You still get the satisfaction and comfort of wearing sneakers and shorts.
Today’s Fashionista is sporting a great look for those days where you want the best of comfort and effortless style. She keeps her look simple but still well thought out with some black cut-offs, sneakers and a plaid button-down. She is also rocking some cute earrings from Walgreens, stacked bracelets and a pair of gray headphones.

CollegeFashionista: I can’t believe you bought those earrings from Walgreens! Do you have any other random fashion finds like that?
Kayla Reed: Yeah, I get most of my earrings at Walgreens! I bought my shoes [and bracelet] at Payless. They have a good amount of interesting jewelry for really cheap. But mostly every thing I have comes from thrift stores.
CF: What is your favorite part about dressing for summer?
KR: I really love wearing shorts. Usually I just cut up my pants from the winter. And it’s comfortable and cheap.
CF: Who or what typically inspires your style?
KR: My style is pretty all over the place. I really love Annie Hall. Most of the time it’s pretty boyish but I also like pretty things too.
CF: How has your style changed since you were a freshman in college?
KR: My style has matured since freshman year. I used to be really inspired by the 1960s. I used to layer a lot and liked looking like a rag doll. Now my style is pretty simple and I don’t put much thought into it.
How To: If you want to achieve an effortlessly cool and laid back look for summer, start with a pair of cut-offs. They can be homemade or store bought. Instead of going for a typical blue denim pair, opt for a black pair. It will give your look some edge and still keep it laid back. To keep your look casual, pair your shorts with a pair of black sneakers. Don’t forget to check out Walgreens for some unexpected accessory surprises and throw on some big headphones for the final touch.
