Fashionista Spotlight

“Decem-brrr” has made a grand appearance and you can too. When you’re feeling drab, simply add a pop of color to your outfit like this week’s Fashionista. Catch her bundled up in textured tights, layered long sweaters (plural) and puffer jacket. Read more about her tips to avoiding frostbite and staying vibrant during the cold months ahead below.

Name: Katie Hayes

Major: Journalism

Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: Describe your style in three words.

Katie Hayes: Neutral colored, boho, comfortable.

CF: What are your wardrobe staples?

KH: During the bitter winter months in Spokane I never leave the house without my puffy Michael Kors jacket or Zella multi-weather jacket. In addition…I don’t know what I would do without my Free People sweaters!

CF: What are your favorite stores?

KH: I love shopping at Free People, Anthropologie, Gap and bargain hunting for goodies at Marshall’s or T.J.Maxx.

CF: Is there anything specifically that inspires your style?

KH: Growing up in Portland I have seen some of the craziest styles from people! I can’t say my style is reflective of any certain individual. I follow multiple blogs and get outfit inspiration from fashion boards on Pinterest. My style typically reflects how I am feeling that day.

CF: If you could take over anyone’s closet, who would it be and why?

KH: AH. If I could take anyone’s wardrobe it would be my friend who has worked at Free People for three years! That employee 40% off discount has given her an amazing wardrobe!

How To: Create this Fashionista’s look by pairing the following essentials under your choice parka: oversized knit sweater, fleece-lined leggings and vibrant infinity scarf.
