Don’t get me wrong, I was getting sick of the gray slush that seemed to cover every surface of campus, just like everyone else. However, when imagining it mysteriously disappearing, I pictured beautiful spring weather with green grass and flowers blooming—not the Polar Vortex hitting for the millionth time. All I can say is, that darn groundhog is definitely on my list for declaring an extra six weeks of winter. Most of the students in Lancaster are growing weary of the snow, and even more fed up with the lack of snow days to inches-of-snow ratio. This Fashionista however, embraced the seemingly never-ending white winter by matching her super soft, textured fur vest to the current mountains of towering snow.
Name: Kat Torsiello
Major: Business with a minor in French
CollegeFashionista: If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why?
Kat Torsiello: I would definitely have to say Alexa Chung. She is the epitome of chic and uniqueness. Her style is something she has defined as her own and her personality is reflected in her outfits.
CF: Being captain of the equestrian team, what’s your take on that classical and ultimate preppy look hitting the runway?
KT: I love it. I’ve been riding for about fifteen years, so I grew up wearing Ralph Lauren polos, britches and riding boots basically every day. I was actually really surprised the first time I saw a girl wearing mock britches on campus, but I’m definitely going to embrace the trend; it’s my comfort zone.
CF: Does being an avid photographer and artist affect your own personal style at all?
KT: Through taking pictures I’ve learned about how to capture an emotion or personality in an image and it has definitely influenced how I dress myself. I go through stages of how I want to present myself, whether it’s comfy and casual, or edgy and bold.
CF: If you could splurge on anything, what would you add to your closet?
KT: I’ve been eyeing a pair of House of Harlow 1960 Zenith skull flats for a few weeks now that I’m dying to find. I’ve also been looking for the perfect black faux fur vest.
How To: Channel your inner Snow Queen with this vest, fleeced-lined leggings and these fabulous boots (who cares if they’re not made for snow anyways?). This combo is taking the new “eskimo-chic” trend to new lengths—or layers, by serving as the perfect way to bundle up and stay stylish in this not so haute weather.
