This Fashionista was trendily sneaky with white fashion before Memorial Day. Colorful leather jackets are a trend this spring season and are a great way to tie an outfit together. This Fashionista paired her TCEC leather jacket with the perfect spring dress from H&M. The skull patterning on her dress is a great statement of her personality and style preferences. She keeps the black and white coloring within her outfit very consistent, but has lovely pops of color in her MAC Russian Red lipstick and her essie gel “Net Worth” turquoise-colored nails. This Fashionista has a very lively style, pairing funky items with classic and solid pieces.
Name: Kat Rodriguez
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Kat Rodriguez: The first word that comes to mind is bohemian, but I’m very much about comfort so let’s call it comfort bohemian. I can also go boho chic when the occasion arises.
CF: How has your style developed over the years?
KR: Well, I would say I’ve come a long way since the middle school days of Juicy Couture, UGGs and Tiffany & Co. necklaces. When I was first exploring my individuality through clothing, I was called “Stargirl” because I would wear maxi dresses in eighth grade and mismatch items. I just wanted to be unique without understanding how to create a cohesive ensemble. It took a little exploring and trial and error, but it helped me cultivate my funky bohemian style I have today.
CF: What is your favorite spring trend?
KR: I absolutely love flowy clothing, especially maxi skirts, dresses and harem pants! I’m a curvy girl and I find that shorts either feel too short or, when they’re longer, look too matronly. I love finding fun alternatives to spring bottoms. In the winter, it’s hard to wear flowy items because they aren’t warm and are usually made of chiffon material but in the spring, they’re perfect!
CF: What are some of your favorite places to shop?
KR: Well, I do love thrifting. I like getting things for a bargain, but I like to indulge by shopping at higher end consignment stores like Second Time Around or Mint. That way I can get nicer vintage things at an affordable cost. I also like shopping at and supporting local boutiques at home and school. One boutique in particular up here in Saratoga Springs, Lucia Boutique, is amazing. They have great brands like For Love & Lemons and Vanessa Mooney. When online shopping, I love NASTY GAL. Everything they have is unique and the CEO, Sophia Amoruso, is super cool and such an inspiration to me.
