Classes have officially come to an end, and as final exams are picking up steam, it’s understandable for us to want to roll out of bed and into class in our yoga pants and call it a day. Sure, you could strut on campus in your pajamas after that all-nighter, but true Fashionistas never let the stress of finals week stand in the way of expressing their personal style. Instead, they find a way to look fabulous even on their toughest days. This Fashionista achieved finals week chic in her simple striped shirt and black skirt, but her colorful Etsy bag really grabbed my attention and took her classic ensemble to the next level.
Name: Kara Seven
CollegeFashionista: Who or what influences your personal style?
Kara Seven: I follow a bunch of fashion blogs, and I have an inspiration folder with a bunch of pictures from different sources like these blogs and the fashion section on Reddit. I always try to look at it before I go shopping.
CF: What is your favorite blog that you follow?
KS: I really like Keiko Lynn because I really admire her style. Her style is more frou frou than mine but I really like the colors and patterns she incorporates into her look.
CF: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?
KS: I like fall because I like wearing high socks and short skirts. I think it offers you more variety in terms of the weather.
CF: Whose closet would you raid and why?
KS: I’d go for Taylor Swift because we have similar body types and she looks so put-together. I think she dresses really well and I’d love to take her clothes.
CF: What is one item in your closet you cannot live without?
KS: I love my black trench coat because I like how it can dress things up, and I love that it’s warm and waterproof. I love being able to throw it on over my casual outfits to make things look nicer.
How To: To get this Fashionista’s look, keep it monochromatic with a striped shirt, black flouncy skirt and shoes. All you need is a simple necklace and a statement bag and you’ve got yourself a black and white look that’s anything but basic.
