Having a two-toned outfit is an easy way to catch my eye if you’re wearing the right pieces. This Fashionista had the right mix of fall and summer to make me stop her for an interview. Her style is hard to define, but the elegant ensemble was put together without flaw.
Name: Kailyn Sonnenburg
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Kailyn Sonnenburg: My sandals and shorts are both from Target. I bought the sweater from Forever 21, along with the tank, and my jewelry is by Tiffany & Co.
CF: Where do you usually shop for your clothes?
KS: Forever 21 and PacSun are my go-to stores. They just have such a good selection. Charlotte Russe is another one of my favorite spots.
CF: Who has been your style inspiration lately?
KS: I like to check out the styles on Tumblr because I can get a sense of what fashion is like in other countries. Pinterest is another site that has some great fashion tips.
CF: What is your favorite piece in your closet?
KS: I’d definitely say my combat boots from Forever 21 are my favorite. I can’t wait till it gets a little bit colder to throw those on.
CF: Is there anything you will be wearing a lot of this fall?
KS: For me, this fall will be full of boots and leggings. I have a couple of big sweaters that I cannot wait to wear either. Fall clothing is so comfortable. The weather needs to hurry up and cool off already.
How To: This two-toned ensemble is easier to mimic than you may think. Target and Forever 21 have a great selection of womenswear that can help get you through the season. This Fashionista’s black sandals were a great choice of shoe to wear with her black shorts. Fall calls for darker tones, so try finding a pair of shorts to match with a pair of sandals to create a monochromatic lower-half to your outfit. Wearing a tank top that’s the same color as your shorts and sandals is a great idea. This makes your choice of sweater the focal point of the outfit. Fall is the best season to bust out an extravagant sweater. Find a sweater that you think no one else will have this fall to help yourself stand out. Throw on a long necklace or two and watch your ensemble come to life.
