For cozy study days, this Fashionista has the dress code down. Instead of reaching for the tempting sweats, she instead opts for an oversized print sweater and layers it over the typical fall weather neutrals – gray and black. Her sturdy, black motorcyle boots add an edgy element that has become an imperative for many street style looks this fall, with muses such as Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr both rocking similar kicks. Overall, sticking to neutrals and balancing them with a standout sweater is the perfect ensemble that will keep you looking fresh and feel comfy all day, wherever your books may take you.
Name: Julie Tentler
Major: French, Humanities
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today and where is it from?
Julie Tentler: My T-shirt is from Urban Outfitters, my jeans are Forever 21, my boots are Frye and my sweater is Free People.
CF: What inspires you when it comes to your style?
JT: I’m inspired by nouveau-grunge pieces and bohemian rocker styles. I’m inspired by classic styles with a twist to them, mixing chic with free-spiritedness.
CF: Any style icons you go to for ideas?
JT: I absolutely adore Alexa Chung. She is the epitome of cool. I don’t necessarily follow her style all of the time, but I love her.
CF: What are some of your go-to shopping destinations?
JT: I always find something at Urban Outfitters, sometimes even in the men’s section! Others I love are Topshop and when I’m able to splurge, Free People is another favorite. I also have a thing for boots, and I typically go after any pair that strikes my eye. You honestly can never have enough boots so when I see a pair I go for it.
CF: What are you most excited about for fall fashion?
JT: Autumn is my favorite of the seasons. Layers, sweater and rosy cheeks – I love it all. I have been really into beanies these days and love wearing them as accessories. And you can never go wrong with scarves! I hoard them in the drawers of my armoire.
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet?
JT: My favorite item in my closet would have to be the Frye motorcycle boots I’m currently wearing. They took a while to break in, but were so worth it. Ankle booties are my thing. There’s just something about them!
How to: It will be easy to find a simple gray T-shirt and black jeans. For the boots, you can be a little more creative, and short or long styles will work for this ensemble. Finally, find a sweater that is eye-catching and will keep you warm as the days get colder.
