Finding styles that transcend seasons is one of Fashionistas’ biggest challenges. Deciphering which styles are season appropriate versus which are practical for the weather is difficult as seasons begin to change. This Virginia native, however, shows us which style choices are best as we transition from one season to the next.
Name: Johna Mitchem
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Johna Mitchem: I am wearing a navy and white striped sweater over a pink and white checkered gingham shirt from H&M, Jessica Simpson jeans that I got at T.J. Maxx, a Michael Kors belt, riding boots, a metallic gold handbag and jewelry from different shops back at home.
CF: How has your style changed since going to school in the midwest?
JM: We don’t get as much snow at home as we do in the midwest, so I definitely have to bundle up more. Scarves, gloves, leg warmers and Bean Boots are all recent additions to my wardrobes.
CF: How do you plan on transitioning from winter to spring?
JM: I think I will stick with light blues and grays as the season change, because they can be wintery but they can also transcend into spring. Also, I will start wearing lighter sweaters and my riding boots again.
CF: What is the best piece of fashion advice you have ever been given?
JM: My great grandmother is really into fashion. She is 85 and recently bought a hot pink leather jacket. A lot of my style has come from her, and she would always tell me “you got to look good to feel good.”
CF: Where have you found to be the best place to shop for deals?
JM: T.J. Maxx all the way. I have found so many good deals on sweaters, jeans and bags at T.J. Maxx.
How To: H&M has a lot of cute new spring styles perfect for us midwest Fashionistas. Try this blouse pink blouse underneath this beige sweater for a season neutral outfit. To continue the neutral scheme, grab this taupe hangbag from H&M as well.
