For college Fashionistas and Fashionistos, summer is about more than just fun in the sun. In fact, summer means that Monday through Friday most college students are hard at work with various internships. After a long week, interns, like this week’s Fashionista, look forward to unwinding and trading in their work wardrobe for something more risqué for the weekend.
Name: Jessie Weinstein
Major: Public Relations
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Jessie Weinstein: Today I am wearing a black high neck top by Aqua, floral shorts from Urban Outfitters and Sam Edelman wedges.
CF: As a intern this summer, what helps you decide whats appropriate to wear to the office?
JW: It’s not always easy picking out my outfits for work, being that I’m an intern in New York City, however I try to incorporate my fashion sense into every ensemble I put together. I always like to wear something that is city chic as well as professional. My go-to outfits for work include a maxi dress with a vest or dress shorts paired with a blazer. Of course my outfits are never complete without great jewelry, such as a chunky necklace.
CF: An outfit like this is perfect for the weekend. What other styles do you like to try out on your days off?
JW: When I’m not at work I get to show off my best summer looks. I love wearing wide leg pants with a tank top or crop top, maxi dresses and shorts paired with a denim or a leather vest.
CF: Florals can work in and out of the office. How do you incorporate them into your look this summer?
JW: I find that the best thing about florals is that it comes in any style of clothing and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. One of my favorite items of clothing is my floral wide leg pants that I wear during the day to work with a pair of gladiators or out at night with black wedges. Floral bags are also a great accessory to spice up any outfit that needs a little something extra.
How To: A cute pair of loose floral shorts can work for in or out of the office. For work, try pairing the shorts with something more conservative like a button-down or oversized blouse tucked in. Outside of the office, try the shorts with a cropped turtleneck and a sexy shoe. For an internship it’s much more practical to wear a comfortable shoe like flats or gladiators. Remember work hard, play hard.
