Summer brings about a slew of opportunities. It is the time to experiment with new looks, participate in outdoor activities and catch up with old friends. Summertime also allows for university students to partake in different internships. Finding an internship that is right for you is hard but choosing an impeccable outfit for your first day can be even more difficult. While sifting through your closet it is important to choose an ensemble that is a mixture of both classy and fashionable. I caught this Fashionista on her way home from her internship pulling off a terrific look. She wore a jeweled belt to add a stylish flare to her pencil skirt and knit cardigan.
Name: Jennifer Tsai
Major: Information Systems and Organizational Behaviour
CollegeFashionista: I absolutely love your belt. Where did you get it?
Jennifer Tsai: I actually bought it at a boutique in Hong Kong.
CF: Where do you usually shop around Montreal as a student on a budget?
JT: When I’m on a tight budget, I will look for clothes at H&M or Forever 21.
CF: What would you say are key items to have in your closet for an internship?
JT: Belts or a nice pair of studded earrings for sure because they can add a little spice to your outfit without looking unprofessional.
CF: Heels, flats or wedges?
JT: Definitely heels or wedges. I’ve been wearing shoes with extra height for as long as I can remember. When I wear them, I feel more powerful, as if I can do anything!
How To: This Fashionista shows us how to put together an outfit that is simple and sophisticated while still adding a fashionable touch. Add a great belt to spruce up your outfit like this stylish lady does. Pencil skirts are great for wearing to work. Sometimes when you just don’t feel like wearing a blazer, a knit sweater is a perfect alternative.
