Denim continues to never go out of style and will always be the world’s most worn clothing product. No matter the wash whether it be dark, light, acid or vintage denim can be worn in a countless number of ways. Looking beyond the classic dark wash jean, denim outerwear seems to always recycle itself in the fashion world by coming out in new designs and prints. From floral denim jackets to studded light washed vests, these versatile pieces can quickly make a boring outfit interesting and appealing.
I spotted this week’s Fashionista wearing a dark wash denim jacket, a floral top, black leggings and beige wedged laced up boots. Just by throwing on her denim jacket, this Fashionista automatically dressed down her outfit, making it perfect for running around campus. Her floral top tied into her boots while her simple black leggings allowed her jacket and top to be the main focal point of her outfit.

Collegefashionista: What are you wearing today?
CF: How would you describe your style?
JL: I would describe my style as comfy casual but with a hint of glamour. I love to stay comfortable but at the same time add pieces that can easily dress up my outfit.
CF: Who inspires your sense of style?
JL: Kourtney Kardashian. I love her style since it’s professional but casual at the same time. Plus she’s short like I am so I like how she dresses her petite frame.
CF: What are your favorite trends right now?
JL: Statement jewelry and wedged boots. I love how a chunky necklace can easily complete an outfit and make it more interesting. Wedged boots elongate my legs plus their really comfortable!
CF: What’s your favorite season for fashion?
JL: I have two. Spring and fall because they seem to be fashionably flexible. The weather’s nice so I can get away with wearing whatever I want.
How To: Wear any printed top with your favorite denim jacket or vest to make it more appealing. If you have a plain T-shirt, dress it up with a statement necklace and then throw on your denim outerwear. Add plain black skinny jeans and your favorite shoes and your ready to go. If you have a colored or printed denim jacket, keep your top and bottom simple to allow the jacket to be the focal piece. There is an important rule when it comes to wearing denim though. Don’t overdo it! Your outfit should only feature one denim piece. For example, if you want to wear a plain denim jacket, don’t wear blue jeans with it. Your outfit has to be balanced and this Fashionista found the perfect balance.
