We are officially in the middle of winter and the cold weather does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. The sky is often gray and no one is really jumping up at the thought of going outside. This is the season when sweats most often become a regular in our daily wardrobe. However, this is definitely not the case for this Fashionista! She proves that just wearing one bold focal piece can make all the difference and lighten the mood of these dreary winter days. She rocks the comfortable chic look and undoubtedly still stands out in any crowd. Her bold printed leggings are of a bohemian style that pair perfectly with her combat boots. She chooses to stay neutral in her color pallet by wearing the right shades of gray and white that really make her skin glow in contrast. This Fashionista knows how to brave the cold weather while being oh so trendy and comfortable.
Name: Jennifer Heavey
Major: Early Childhood Education
CollegeFashionista: I love how you look so effortlessly chic. What are you wearing right now?
Jennifer Heavey: Right now I have on a Sabo Skirt honeycomb sweater, my favorite Urban Outfitters leggings, a J.Crew scarf and Steve Madden combat boots.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
JH: That’s a hard question! I love to mix anything and everything. I especially love cropped and oversized sweaters and high-waisted bottoms.
CF: Do you mirror your style after any particular clothing line or celebrity?
JH: I would say I’m a mix between American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Free People and Madewell. I love their styles and model my outfits around their stores.
CF: What is your favorite part about dressing for winter?
JH: I absolutely love leggings! They are a necessity in the winter because you can dress them up or down. The leggings at Urban Outfitters and American Apparel have really unique prints.
CF: What is your favorite thing in your closet right now?
JH: It would have to be my high-waisted Easy Jeans from American Apparel. The jeans are more like leggings on the inside and jeans on the outside, so they are both cute and comfortable. They sell them in all these different arrays of colors for different seasons.
How To: This Fashionista’s look is pretty simple and really only calls for one bold, printed piece to bring the outfit together. Start with either bold printed leggings (like this Fashionista), sweater or scarf. It is not necessary to stick with solely neutral colors; bright colors will add a bit of personality to the outfit. A fun set of statement bracelets or earrings could also be added!
