I haven’t worn my red jeans in quite some time, but this Fashionista’s look inspired me to rethink my options when getting dressed. It’s time for us all to accept that colored denim is a necessity to our closets this season. Isn’t it time we added some color to our lives?
Name: Jen Glukhman
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Jen Glukhman: My blazer is from Ruby and Jenna, and the jeans are Romeo and Juliet Couture that I found at Annie Sez. I love these Lucky Brand combat boots and I wear them to death. These sunglasses are Ray-Ban Clubmaster and I have them in my bag at all times.
CF: How would you describe your style?
JG: I’m definitely grungy and find myself mostly wearing earth tones. Combat boots and cute jackets are a must for me in practically all my outfits. I always like to find new colors to add into my look because sometimes I gravitate to black or brown.
CF: How do you recommend taking colored jeans from day to night?
JG: Red jeans are perfect for day or night. I can always throw them on for class with a plain white tee and a pair of boots or flats. For nighttime, I pair them with high heeled boots and a statement necklace to dress the outfit up.
CF: What trends are you most looking forward to trying out for spring 2013?
JG: I’m really looking forward to adding white back into my closet; for example, my white jeans. As much as I love black, white is great and its really fun to block colors against white for day or night.
CF: What’s your favorite article of clothing in your closet right now?
JG: My favorite piece would have to be my Joe’s flared ripped jeans. I love wearing them to class with Converse or with pumps when I go out. I recommend them to everyone whose looking for a great pair of jeans that can be wore all year round.
How to: To accomplish this Fashionista’s look it’s important to find a comfortable pair of colored jeans. Colors like red, deep purple and turquoise are great for day and night like the J. Brand and Joe’s denim ones. To complete the grunge look, a killer motorcycle jacket or studded blazer such as those at NASTY GAL would add a lot of edge to the look. As this Fashionista said, she lives in her combat boots. Other than Lucky Brand, Frye has some great short boots perfect for any outfit.
