With fall just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how to transition some of your favorite summer pieces into your autumn wardrobe. This Fashionista provides a perfect example of how to do exactly that. She brought together three of summer’s biggest trends—maxi skirts, crop tops and denim vests—and created the perfect ensemble to wear to around campus during this time of year. Opting for a neutral color palette, rather than brights, makes this Fashionista’s outfit more appropriate for the approaching fall season.
Name: Janet Park
Major: English and Spanish
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Janet Park: My maxi skirt is from Gap, my crop top is from Nordstrom and my denim vest is from Forever 21. Also, my watch is Michael Kors and this ring was my mom’s.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
JP: Urban Outfitters, Marshalls and the juniors’ department at Nordstrom.
CF: How would you describe your style?
JP: Simple but sophisticated.
CF: What do you normally wear to class?
JP: I love sweatpants and hoodies, but for class I usually end up putting on a casual outfit that is still stylish.
CF: What are some trends that you’re excited about for this fall and winter?
JP: I love shearling coats and high boots paired with knee-high socks.
How To: This look is very chic and yet simple to replicate. Make this Fashionista’s style your own by adding some prints to your ensemble. Try pairing a printed maxi skirt with a solid crop top, or vice versa. If maxi skirts aren’t your thing, try wearing some funky harem pants instead! For chillier weather, substitute the denim vest for a denim jacket to keep you warm. And if you’d rather not wear a crop top, you could wear a loose-fitting T-shirt tucked into your skirt instead!
