When it comes to style, comfort is always essential. No one likes to develop blisters from shoes that are too tight or wear prickly, itchy sweaters, right? The point is pain is not fashionable! We must find ways to bring comfort into an outfit without looking like we’ve just rolled out of bed in our sweatpants and T-shirts. Don’t get me wrong, it’s understandable to have one of those days every once in a while, but stylish and comfortable is a can-do combo! By opting for leggings instead of a jean, this Fashionista added instant comfort to the outfit. The fitted patterned sweater and the floral boots not only provide comfort but also give the outfit personal style. Seems to me like the phrase “No pain, no gain” does not apply in this Fashionista’s wardrobe.
Name: Janel Brown
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Janele Brown: Comfortable. I don’t really like wearing jeans much because you can’t really move around in them.
CF: What would you consider a perfect summer outfit?
JB: I would say a pair of shorts, sandals and a tank top. I like to wear cropped shirts too.
CF: What is one item in your closet that you wear a lot?
JB: An infinity scarf from American Apparel. Those types of scarves are my favorite.
CF: Where do you like to go shopping?
JB: I like Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom and Free People a lot.
How To: It’s not impossible to look AND feel good in what you wear every day. You can wear pieces that have comfortable fabric but aren’t frumpy and ill-fitting. This sweater from Urban Outfitters is made out of a cotton-blend that would feel soft against your skin. Pair the sweater with these leggings from Free People or for a dressier look, swap the leggings for a pair of jeggings like the ones from Nordstrom. Lace up your trusty Dr. Martens boots and you’re all set for a day of comfort.
