Being chic is hard to come by for some and insanely easy for others. My favorite outfits in the summer are those that are basically pool coverups to try to stay away from the heat. This Fashionista looked über chic and girly all at the same time. Tunics are a summer must-have, I believe. They are perfect loungewear, but they also work great as pool cover-ups. Her ideal tunic-to-scarf ratio make her look sophisticated, even though she was just hanging by the pool all day.
Name: Hays Cochran
Major: Accounting & Spanish
CollegeFashionista: Who would you like to switch closets with?
Hays Cochran: Sarah Jessica Parker. She is the living Carrie Bradshaw in more ways than one. Her style is effortlessly chic yet she always looks very elegant and classy. I see pictures of her taking her son to school in the tabloids and she looks amazing every single time.
CF: What is your favorite trend right now?
HC: I love the neon fad that has been going around this spring. There are so many accents that are neon that can completely change an outfit; maybe even update it. I have some bright orange shorts that I just bought and I have been trying to incorporate them into my wardrobe as I would denim cutoffs. It has definitely been interesting!
CF: What are your favorite designers?
HC: Parker and Milly. Parker because of how fresh all of their clothes seem to be. It has very graceful silhouettes: loose and flowy. I love Milly because it’s fun. Brighter colors and younger. I like everything Tory Burch too, but she can tend to get a little logo-happy.
CF: What piece of clothing do you wear the most?
HC: My jean shorts. It’s almost a bad habit because I have my one favorite pair that I wear every single day of the week in the summer. Then, when I decide that it’s time to take them off I always put on my white pants. I live in my white pants on summer nights.
How To: The first order of duty to re-create this outfit is to buy a fabulous tunic. Plain or printed, take your pick. Now choose a scarf! You want to be on the look for a summer scarf that doesn’t have to loud of a print. Add some sandals to hang around by the pool or some slide wedges to take the look to a casual dinner!
