Fashionista Spotlight

Basic pieces are essential to every college students’ wardrobe. A simple black tank top and a pair of leggings can provide countless options for any look. This winter, we saw many sweater, leggings and boot combinations. Now, as the weather is warming up, these basics are still relevant style components. This Fashionista chose to exchange her sweater and boots for cooler alternatives such as a pair of flats and a silky kimono.

Name: Hannah Ziegeler

Major: Business Administration

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about what you are wearing.

Hannah Ziegeler: I am wearing a pair of black leggings from T.J.Maxx, a basic black tank top and a kimono from Nordstrom, a Michael Kors watch, Alex and Ani bracelets, a Rebecca Minkoff cross-body bag, a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and a pair of camouflage print shoes from Target.

CF: How would you describe your style?

HZ: My style is comfortable and basic. I like to wear a lot of neutral earth tones like black and olive green. I also really like to do colored lips!

CF: What influences your style?

HZ: My roommates influence a lot of my style choices. I am also an avid Pinterest user and get ideas from there as well.

CF: Which item in your closet is your favorite?

HZ: I have a green shirt from Target that is my favorite. It looks good on everyone.

CF: Who is your fashion icon?

HZ: Jessie James. She makes every outfit look effortless.

CF: What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?

HZ: This spring I am really into kimonos because they are loose and flowy. I am also really excited to wear Aztec patterns.

How To: The key to this look is the perfect, flowy kimono. This floral patterned kimono from H&M would look great with a pair of basic leggings or cropped pants. Over a simple, dark colored tank top, try adding this long single strand necklace from Express for a touch of hidden glitz. To complete this seemingly effortless look, grab a pale colored bag, like this satchel from Francesca’s. Both cute and comfortable, this outfit is definitely one to try this spring.
