FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Hannah Young

Fashionista Spotlight

This winter, it has become a necessity to own a pair of brown or black riding boots. No matter what style you have, you can easy work them into your wardrobe and pair them with a variety of outfits for different occasions. They go perfectly with jeans and a sweater or you can go for a fancier look by pairing them with a dress and a button-up coat; however, this Fashionista wears her boots in a way that is trendy, unique and effortlessly chic. In fact, she looks like she has just stepped off of a Free People photo shoot! From the short flowy dress to the cozy sweater and over-the-knee socks, this Fashionista embodies a bohemian and fashion-forward look.

Name: Hannah Young

Major: Marketing

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Hannah Young: I am a wearing a Free People dress, Steve Madden boots, an Urban Outfitters sweater and over-the-knee socks.

CF: Where do you draw you style inspiration from?

HY: Basically if I see an outfit I like, whether it be on Pinterest or on someone walking down the street, I try and recreate it using my own pieces and add a little edge to it.

CF: What is your favorite style quote?

HY: When you look good you feel good!

CF: What trend are you most looking forward to this spring?

HY: Booties with shorts or dresses.

How To:  This looks might seem a little hard to pull off because over-the-knee socks are a recent trend that are not very versatile. The trick is to think of them as tights or legging so they can easily be paired with dresses or skirts. Since they are a winter trend, make sure to wear booties or boots and throw on an oversized cardigan or coat to balance out the look. Scarves or layers of necklaces are the perfect accessories to add to this ensemble. If you want to make this look a little more preppy and classic, you can pair the socks with a skater dress and a peacoat rather than a loose-fitting dress and button-up sweater.
