Although winter doesn’t technically start until December 21st (anyone else down for a trendy winter solstice party?) the temperatures have dropped and the scarves have been pulled out. While we don’t have to wear a heavy coat central Florida, we do have to find creative ways to make our endless pairs of jean shorts and tank tops translate into a seasonally appropriate winter wardrobe. This Fashionista managed to work her Floridian staple pieces into her outfit while dressing for the chilly weather. When it’s not quite cold enough for jeans but too cold for just shorts, opt for what this Fashionista wore. Pair black tights with your shorts. You’ll stay warm but look cool!
Name: Hannah Anderson
CollegeFashionista: What is an item you would splurge on?
Hannah Anderson: I have been looking to splurge on a good winter coat for a while. Investing in one that is a little expensive would be worth it because I’ll have it for years. I also just splurged on an expensive wallet because that’s another item you can use for a long time if you invest in a good one.
CF: Describe your style in one sentence.
HA: An edgy hipster who loves to wear neutrals.
CF: What are you most looking forward to styling over the holidays?
HA: I have red tights that I can’t wait to be able to wear and I bought a sparkly dress on sale that I’m going to wear on New Year’s Eve with heels.
CF: What is one item you always remember to pack over break?
HA: I always bring home my black leather jacket. Even in the summer you can wear a black leather jacket at night to dress up a simpler outfit. During the winter it helps to have a jacket as an extra layer.
How To: Wearing shorts over tights is a no brainer in the winter. While this Fashionista opted for high-top Converse sneakers to cover her toes, try adding some depth to the outfit by pairing it with leopard print smoking flats or wearing a bright pair of denim shorts. Adding some accessories like a bold ear cuff or even a neon beanie will add to the edgy vibe but add a punch of color too!
