This week I took to the streets to find an outfit with a diverse color palette and something completely different from what I am normally attracted to. It wasn’t long before I ran into this Fashionista. I fell in love with everything from her hair to her shoes and knew I had to share her amazing style with you all!
Name: Haley Bowman
Major: International Affairs, Security Policy and International Economics
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Haley Bowman: That’s tough…my style really does change from day-to-day. Not only that, but my fundamental philosophy largely revolves around the basis that nothing can match. I think that stems from my subconscious attempt (until now) to shy away from portraying a certain archetype. I will say that the outfit I’ve got on now however, is not the best exhibition of my usual style—for me, this look is “preppy.”
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet right now?
HB: Another difficult question. At the moment, I’d have to say these weird garter stockings I recently got online. But for the past three months, I’ve been obsessed with these vintage Chanel boots I found at a high end thrift shop in Amsterdam.
CF: If you could raid one celebrity or style icon’s closet, who would it be?
HB: I don’t think I can give you a straight answer and just pick one, so I’ll give you a name for both celebrity and syle icon. Rachel Lynch, a fashion blogger (under the name ‘I Hate Blonde‘), has a closet to die for. I really just swoon over her Instagram account, it is utterly psychotic—I am jealous of all the fame she has gotten recently. As for the celebrity—I hate myself more than you could imagine for this but I would have to be, Miley Cyrus.
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop?
HB: I shop almost exclusively online. The only store I will physically go into is LF and only because they don’t have an online shop. I buy from one or two brands directly—namely UNIF and The Ragged Priest—since their best stuff often isn’t sold to their stockist.
How To: Most of this Fashionista’s outfit is from LF. Unfortunately LF does not have an online store, so, if you’d want to recreate this awesome look, I’ve got you covered. Pick up a jean jacket vest and layer it on top of a cozy and cute sweater. Next, find your favorite leggings and tuck them into some fun socks! Top everything off with your glasses (since you are a studious college student, of course), a colorful scarf and some Converse…oh, and of course your books! Now you’re set and can head off to class.
