Fashionista Spotlight

It’s raining, it’s pouring, it’s snowing…and now it’s 50 degrees? Lately, this New York “winter” weather has been pretty unpredictable and near impossible to dress for properly. So how does a New York Fashionista dress for Mother Nature’s fluctuating personality? I found the perfect girl to tell us! On this especially rainy day, I found thie Fashionista, a college student who just returned home from studying abroad in London, a city no stranger to some rain. I thought her ensemble was perfect as it was super trendy and fashionable, but sensible as well. It was warm enough for the chilly gusts of wind that came about every so often, but not too bulky to make one feel dragged down in wet, rain soaked clothes.

Name: Gabrielle Nati

Major: Accounting

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What inspired your outfit?

Gabrielle Nati: I just spent the last three months studying abroad in London, and I absolutely love the fashion there. I felt my outfit today looked kind of British.

CF: What is your favorite part about the outfit and why?

GN: My necklace. It’s just perfect. I really love the antique style that it has, and it’s really versatile. You can incorporate it into every outfit!

CF: Who are some of your biggest fashion influences? Why do you look up to them?

GN: I love Blake Lively, Miley Cyrus and Barbara Palvin. I think all three ladies take very classic styles and add their own personal edge and flair to it to make it unique and different.

How To: Want to look like this stylish chick? It’s easy! To recreate this look all you need is a simple black skirt, any chunky knit sweater, preferably crop top, a bold statement piece and some cute booties! The conversation starter of a necklace takes what could be a plain outfit and spices it up a bit. The simple black skirt, a necessity in every Fashionista’s closet, gives the look some flexibility. Without changing the bottom, you can switch into a casual tank, (keep the necklace, duh) and you have a look ready for a night out on the town! Simple enough to dance in, yet spunky enough to look right at home in a trendy bar/lounge! Want to take it a step further? Throw a blazer on top, and you have a look your coworkers would be wishing they came up with! It’s all so fabulous, and yet, all so simple! Remember though, while Gab looked fierce in her look, it is HER look! Try something different for yourself. Maybe swap the booties for some flats or the sweater for a T-shirt. Don’t forget to make every look your own!
