The beginning of a new semester is always exciting, especially the first week of classes. You aren’t sleep deprived, stressed out or completely unorganized and this is when your sense of style really shines. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has not been too kind to us this week. It was been gloomy, rainy and just downright depressing (we’re hoping that it’s not a predicament for this semester). Luckily, I found a Fashionista who knew how to channel her sense of style in any weather condition.
Name: Fana Haile
Major: Fashion Merchandising & Marketing
College Fashionista: What are you wearing?
FN: My trench is from the Gap, leggings from Ann Taylor, my earrings are from a thrift store in Boston, Tory Burch shoes, Forever 21 tunic and my head wrap scarf is from American Apparel.
CF: What inspires your outfit on a rainy day?
FN: Staying, warm, dry and comfy!
CF: In three words describe your sense of style
FN: Ladylike, hip hop and curves
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop?
FN: Flea Markets! So many hidden treasures!
How To: The key to this outfit is keep it simple with unique pieces. Staple items would be a pair of leggings and a basic trench coat. This CollegeFashionista found these amazing Tory Burch shoes at a vintage shop, but I say try a pair of brightly colored oxfords to make the look pop but still keep it casual at the same time. Pair this look off with a causal but printed tunic and big scarf to stay warm and don’t forget the gold accessories! If you really want to take this rainy day look to the next level take a scarf and turn into a headband to protect your locks from the elements.
