FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Erinn O’Connor

Fashionista Spotlight

Well Fashionistas, it’s rainy season… and snowy season… and flu season… and everything-gloomy-you-can-ever-imagine season. It’s hard to stay in good spirits as we confront the terrors that come with the beginning of the spring semester. Unfortunately, sometimes this attitude affects our wardrobes, leading to sloppy sweats and just looking plain drab. What we often forget is that if we look good, we tend to feel good too.

This is something that today’s Fashionista is always sure to take into account. This Fashionista is sporting a cute graphic sweater with a pop of color to fight the overcast sky. And it has a fox on it; that makes me feel great just looking at it, but maybe it’s just because I love foxes.

Name: Erinn O’Connor

Major: Journalism

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Erinn O’Connor: I got my sweater at Von Maur and my cords are BDG from Urban Outfitters. My shoes are Sperry Top-Siders and my bracelet is Tiffany & Co.

CF: What is your typical winter wardrobe? Do you ever try to brighten things up?

EO: I normally just wear jeans and sweaters or long sleeve shirts. I’ve been into chiffons a lot, hopping onto that trend. I’m not big into neon or anything so I just try to keep things neutral.

CF: Who is your style icon?

EO: I love Jackie Kennedy Onassis because she has a very put together and classic look.

CF: What do you think every Fashionista should have in her wardrobe?

EO: I think you should make good investment pieces but you should definitely have a few pairs of quality jeans and a lot of items that you can mix and match together.

How To: As we’ve grown up and transitioned into more mature wardrobes, certain trends have grown with us. Graphic tees are no longer T-shirts with lame sayings or giant logos splashed across the front. Designers have amped them up with simple yet bold graphics and images that college students like us would care about. They are even being taken from just T-shirts to higher quality fabrics and cuts (like Erinn’s sweater). Graphic designs are an easy way to bring a little color and energy to a simple outfit. For warmer days pair a cute tank with a busy pattern with a simple skirt or colored jeans. Or even go graphic all over with a fun and flirty printed dress; this one definitely defeats the gloomy skies. And of course, you can never go wrong with cats.
