In the world of fashion, a lot of the time less is more. Minimalism has always been an everlasting trend. It’s a pleasant reminder to get back to basics and not waste time worrying about the fickle fads that come and go. In fact, many designers showcase the beauty of minimalism in fashion right on the runway. Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. This Fashionista is flaunting a look of simplicity, yet she is still far from basic. Her unique gold necklace is the perfect accent of originality over her gray basic T-shirt and cream cardigan sweater. Worn with her dark denim jeans and black leather boots, she is keeping it casual with her own personal flair. The gold accessory on the back of her boots is another bold accent to bring out her inner style amongst the simplicity.
Name: Erin Murphy
CollegeFashionista: Who is your fashion inspiration?
Erin Murphy: I get a lot of my inspiration from Kendall and Kylie Jenner. I really love their California-girl aesthetic, simple and chic.
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet?
EM: My favorite item in my closet right now is my leather leggings because they intensify any outfit but once it starts getting warmer I’ll be all about my maxi skirts.
CF: How would you describe your style?
EM: My style is very laid back and feminine at the same time.
How To: Simplify your closet with graphic shapes and bold mixes of black, white and color balanced with neutrals that look surprisingly new. While sometimes a basic white T-shirt might not look so appealing on your favorite shopping site, basic neutral colored sweaters, T-shirts and blouses are closet necessities. They make outfit pairing so easy and reusable. Incorporate a few bold accessories to switch up your otherwise simple outfits. This is such an awesome way to make the same set of clothes into a totally different ensemble.
