The time has come. Winter break is coming to an end, and we have all emerged from hibernation to do some final errands before heading back to school. While shopping in my hometown, I bumped into this Fashionista on a dreary January afternoon. She had just grabbed a latte and was about to do some shopping, then later, go on a movie date. This Fashionista is really into layering and dressing in flexible outfits for whatever the day may bring!
Name: Emma Fritts
CollegeFashionista: Describe your style in three words.
Emma Fritts: Comfy, casual, layered.
CF: What are some of your go-to wardrobe items that you always seem throw on at the last minute?
EF: I have a ton of scarves so I always end up wearing one if my outfit is missing something.
CF: Let’s say your schedule for the day included class, work and a date with no time in between to change outfits. What would you wear?
EF: I would wear a nice pair of jeans and a cute top, and maybe change accessories throughout the day. They can so easily dress up or dress down the outfit.
CF: What is your advice for us Fashionistas on a budget?
EF: My advice to make the most of the wardrobe you have and borrow from your roommates! And a lot of times I surprise myself by finding that my old, forgotten clothes can work well my newer clothes. There is so much you can mix and match!
How To: This outfit is all about versatility and comfort. It is a January day, so she incorporates her favorite winter pieces such as her pop-color cords from Old Navy and her chunky eternity scarf. Although, considering it is a mild 53 degrees, she can simply throw on her denim button-up shirt from Topshop and her moccasins. And for an evening look, she can easily dress up her outfit for her date by losing the scarf and adding a chic statement necklace that she keeps in her bag.
