I know, I talk a lot of talk about how leggings bring little to the style table. But, that’s because a lot of the time leggings are paired with a generic black fleece and a pair of flats or brown boots. I’m glad I ran into this Fashionista because she rocks leggings in a different way. I love the olive green color of her leggings, especially paired with the over-the-knee boots.
Name: Emily Mann
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Emily Mann: Whatever feels comfortable when I wake up in the morning. Boots are always easy, and who doesn’t love not wearing real pants?
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet right now?
EM: Probably an oversized sweater that my dad gave me, but now that the weather’s getting warmer I have to find something else! I like this weather [because] you can layer and do fun stuff with it.
CF: What are your favorite places to shop in Boston?
EM: Urban Outfitters is on my way to go grocery shopping, so that ends up being where I spend my money. But, I really like Second Time Around as well.
CF: What are you looking forward to most to wear this spring?
EM: I get to put all of my dresses back on. I love to wear coral. Coral and turquoise are two colors that I love for spring. Those are fun!
CF: What is a good tip for college students to save money, but stay fashionable?
EM: [Check out] the random stuff that people don’t want, like your parents especially. I feel like anything that they used to wear is kind of coming back now. So, raid their closets. It’s always really fun.
How To: Try these Jersey Cotton Spandex Leggings from American Apparel in any color, but black! Maybe the dark truffle brown with a pair of leg warmers and ballet flats or the olive green like this Fashionista’s. As for over-the-knee boots, try these Chinese Laundry ones with a small wedge heel. Play with layers and different hemlines like pairing this Evil Twin Bad Wiring Knit Top from Urban Outfitters with this NASTY GAL Renegade Moto Jacket.
