It’s officially fall in New England, since temperatures have dropped to those chilly 40s. Therefore, how does one manage to still look fashionable? This Fashionista has no problem pulling off this task. I discovered this Fashionista on her way to work and had to stop her for her fashionable, yet professional look. To embrace this new fall weather, she wore a cozy herringbone sweater and paired it with sleek black capri pants. These bottoms are perfect for the ounce of summer that is left before fall completely hits. Her entire outfit is monochromatic, but she finishes it off with a nice surprise of a pop of color. By adding color at the end of the outfit, it forces the eye to view her entire outfit as a whole, instead of focusing on one piece. To learn how this Fashionista came up with this well thought out fall outfit, read below for her stylish responses.
Name: Emily Broe
Major: Political Science
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Emily Broe: My black capri pants and gray and black herringbone sweater are from Forever 21. My purple suede flats are from H&M and my bracelets are Alex and Ani.
CF: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
EB: Forever 21 is definitely my favorite store. I can always find something in there, whether it’s a new shirt or a statement necklace. I also love how inexpensive it is!
CF: What’s your favorite fall trend?
EB: I love scarves. I’m looking forward to wearing them almost every day soon. They always match whatever outfit I’m wearing and are easy to throw on when I’m in a rush, especially infinity scarves. They’re an all-around great accessory.
CF: How do you manage to still dress fashionably as the weather becomes colder?
EB: I embrace our lovely New England weather by always throwing on a pair of pants to match whatever I’m wearing. The pants can be simple, but then I wear fashionable tops and shoes to make up for it.
CF: Where does your sense of style come from?
EB: I get inspiration from everything surrounding me. When I see trends and pieces that I like, I try to incorporate them more often into my outfits. Whenever I’m shopping, I gravitate towards pieces that stand out to me.
How To: Embrace fall’s darker tones, but don’t shy away from adding a pop of color for surprise. Remember to dress for comfort first, but that shouldn’t inhibit your sense of style. Follow this Fashionista’s lead by pairing a neutral sweater, with a similar toned set of pants. Lastly find the perfect accessories to offset the neutrality; you can try these fun and bold flats or this navy statement necklace. No longer will your sense of style be hindered by the weather, but instead inspired!
