Name: Elyse Winter
Major: Merchandise Marketing
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Elyse Winter: My bottoms are from where I work, 7 For All Mankind, my cardigan is Sandro, my tank is Alexander Wang, my bag is Balenciaga and my shoes are Via Spiga.
CF: Where do you usually shop?
EW: Lets see. Zara, Sandro and Mage, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Barneys is like my go-to. I like Scoop, I like Alice Walker and Fred Segal.
CF: What’s your favorite item in your closet?
EW: I’d probably have to say, it’s like a joke, actually. I bought these Valentino rockstud shoes at T.J.Maxx for $500. That’s still not cheap but they’re Valentino. They’re black, rockstud kitten heels.
CF: Is there anything specifically that inspires your style?
EW: I’d say bloggers are really important. I definitely like the more minimal look, if you can’t tell. So bloggers, obviously fashion shows, fashion week and also people that I see in the street. If I see a way that a girl wore something, I’ll repeat it in my own way. Also for my work I do wholesale, so I can see what’s coming up for spring 2013 and adjust my wardrobe.
CF: What are you looking forward to wearing this fall?
EW: Leather, like I did last season. I think leather staples but maybe this time in different colors like burgundy and red. A lot of tweed is popular, peasant skirts, embossed things, like croc embossed things are really popular. Also I’m going to invest in a rag & bone hat, like the floppy hat in a black, navy or burgundy with ripped skinnies and black cardigans, the easy look. Florals in deep colors are big and metallics continue. So my nail polish will be metallic like copper, not just the regular silver and gold.
How To: The trick to rocking an ensemble like this Fashionista’s is keeping the colors to a minimum and maintaining that minimal style throughout the whole look. Try layering a plain white tank with a black cardigan, then find some simple army green trousers like these. The only thing left to complete the outfit is that high end flair so try a pair of heels like these and a classic big, black leather bag.
