Taste is one of the most subjective things ever. Whether it’s your taste in food, artwork or clothes, it seriously varies from person to person. One telltale sign of a student with great taste in clothes is when they are repeat offenders, but in the best way possible. There are a handful of students who look perfectly put together every time I spot them on campus and today’s Fashionista happens to be one of them.
She is donning a perfectly simple but unique ensemble. By keeping her base monochromatic, she had fun accessorizing with more colorful pieces like her necklace and shoes. She was also wearing three simple gold rings that added the perfect touch and could be worn with anything. And thanks to her adorable orange suede loafers, she was hard to miss.
Name: Ekposuoemi Koroye
Major: Computer and Electrical Engineering
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Ekposuoemi Koroye: I’d like to think my style is classic; I love wearing timeless pieces with some trends from the present day. I wear a lot of black and white and then add a pop of color or print, but right now I’m very much into print-on-print outfits.
CF: If you could meet anyone in the fashion industry, who would it be and why?
EK: I would love to meet Valentino Garavani. There’s just something about his dresses and his signature shade of red that I’m drawn to.
CF: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?
EK: I love summer because I don’t have to layer up or cover my outfits with jackets or scarves. But I also love autumn because I can break out my leather jackets, coats and boots.
CF: If you could go shopping during any decade, which one would it be and why?
EK: I love women’s fashion in the ‘20s (the dresses), the ‘60s for dresses and pants and the early ‘90s for crop tops.
CF: What would you never be caught wearing?
EK: Crocs, clogs and any sort of outfit with black and yellow as the primary colors.
How To: This Fashionista proves that you can never go wrong with black staple pieces and colorful accessories. To achieve this tasteful look, find a black dress and leather jacket. Next, find a pair of black sunglasses and a simple cross-body purse. Once you’ve got your monochromatic base down, you can add on the colorful accessories and lipstick. Go for a subtly colorful necklace like this one from ModCloth or this geometric one from Topshop. It doesn’t have to be huge, but this is a great way to incorporate some color into your look. Finally, slip into a pair of bright colored loafers and you’ll have a playful and chic outfit for the day.
