Denim is commonly incorporated in jeans, shorts and jackets. But have you ever owned a denim dress? After surfing the Internet, I realized there are more denim dresses than I thought. For example, Harper’s Bazaar spotted Julianne Hough wearing a super chic denim dress. FabSugar included quilted denim in its slideshow for “The Ultimate Summer Guide to Denim.” Now, this week’s Fashionista shows us how she styles her own denim dress.
Name: Deborah Keys
Major: Occupational Therapy
CollegeFashionista: Where did you get each piece of your outfit?
Deborah Keys: My dress was a gift so I am not sure where they got it. My leggings are from Forever 21, but I heard there are awesome deals at H&M!
CF: What are your wardrobe staples?
DK: Definitely a good pair of jeans! But every college student should have at least two dresses, one casual and one a bit more formal. You never know when you’ll have to dress up for a presentation or meeting.
CF: Describe your style in three words.
DK: Comfortable, simple and colorful.
CF: If you could go on a shopping spree to one store, which one would it be and why?
DK: Definitely T.J.Maxx. They have great deals and awesome clothing. You should definitely check out that store if you haven’t already.
CF: What stores do you shop at regularly?
DK: T.J.Maxx and Forever 21. I love the great deals that they have. It is especially important for me, as a college student, to bargain hunt. Plus it is more satisfying getting compliments from a dress that was on sale for $10 as opposed to making sure a $500 dress doesn’t get stained or ripped.
How To: To replicate this denim style, check out Forever 21’s collection of denim dresses. Pair one with black leggings and cute black flats. If you still aren’t convinced that you should totally buy a denim dress, check out this photo of fashion icon Alexa Chung!
