There are fashion trends that sound weird and even look weird on a shelf or on a hanger but when it’s actually on, it’s a completely different story. That’s my opinion on flatform sandals. As a student at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, this Fashionista is all about comfortable trends. She pairs her flatforms with an army green midi skirt, a perfect length for any kind of day in the city. To dress down her outfit she wears a muscle tee with a black bralette underneath, giving the outfit the perfect effortless touch.
Name: Dana Davenport
CollegeFashionista: Tell me what you’re wearing!
Dana Davenport: I got the skirt from a J.Crew and Madewell sample sale, the shirt is from ASOS and the bralette is from Urban Outfitters.
CF: What inspires your style?
DD: I guess my style is close to homeless people with a mix of trendy people in Soho.
CF: Where do you shop back in New York City?
DD: I like to shop at Buffalo Exchange because you never know what’s in store but they carry funky items that I can try at an affordable price. Samples sales are exciting too!
CF: What are some of your favorite trends this summer?
DD: Platforms are crazy comfortable and I’m really short so they give me a good height. Another favorite is lots of jewelry that I find on the streets.
How To: I’ve been hesitant to try the platform trend, but after this Fashionista’s confirmation that they are “the most comfortable shoes ever,” I’m deciding to give it a try. If you like the way the Fashionista styled her outfit, try this similar midi skirt from ASOS and these flatforms from Urban Outfitters.
