FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Courtney Congdon

Finals week has come and gone, campus has cleared out and summer has begun. As students packed up to head home for a few months, the Diag was finally in bloom and the sun finally out. So, while the end of the year usually demotivates us to look our best, the beautiful April weather had this Fashionista inspired.

Name: Courtney Congdon

Major: Engineering

Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

Courtney Congdon: It’s hard for me to describe my personal style simply because it changes so much day to day. In general, I would place my style along the lines of feminine, classic and a little bit preppy. I love big statement necklaces, cardigans, bows and basically anything pink.

CF: If you could have anybody’s closet, whose would it be and why?

CC: I would do anything to be able to raid Lauren Conrad’s closet. I envy the effortlessly chic wardrobe she always shows off. She has a unique style that’s classy, romantic and simple; it’s the perfect balance between beachy and classic. I love the details of her outfits, like the jewelry, laces and ruffles paired with tailored sophistication.

CF: Which spring trend(s) are you most excited for?

CC: Maxi dresses and skirts are both things I can’t wait to pull back out from my closet. They’re the most versatile pieces of clothing a girl can own and are comfortable but super trendy. You can throw them on with a cute top and necklace, or pair them with a denim or leather jacket for an edgier approach. Also, they’re great to pair with sandals for a trip to the beach.

CF: What three pieces in your closet can you not live without and why?

CC: I wouldn’t be able to live without my skinny jeans, cardigans and statement necklaces. Jeans because they’re so versatile and can be worn with anything, cardigans because of the comfort and because they pull together every outfit and statement necklaces since they add something extra to every outfit.

How To: This week, this Fashionista sported an outfit with the perfect balance between preppy and comfy. To get her look, start with a simple, white racerback tank. For your legs, opt for basic, cuffed denim shorts. If you want to dress things up, add a colorful statement necklace or a few chunky bangle bracelets. Lastly, for your feet, choose a pair of classic leather gladiator sandals and you’re all set to go!
