FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Cora Harmon

Fashionista Spotlight

On a beautiful spring day, I found myself once again taking advantage of the nice weather and searching campus for a stylish Fashionista/o. Perhaps the students I saw walking around were not prepared for such a lovely day or simply had not brought enough spring clothes back after winter break, for it became difficult to find someone on campus who was not wearing leggings, yoga pants or a sweatshirt. Even though I too am guilty of wearing these typical college student articles of clothing once in awhile, I had thought that students might dress up in celebration of spring.

Luckily, I was able to find one such Fashionista with that idea in mind. Wearing a classy and professional looking outfit that seemed perfect for spring, I knew this Fashionista was enjoying the beautiful day just as much as I was and I hurried off to greet her. As I interviewed her I complimented her on all of her tiny and classy accessories. I loved her rose studd earrings and wedged boots. I also loved the way she had pinned back her hair in an effortless but sophisticated way. Her classy style and easy-going personality perfectly suited the calm sunny day that to me marked the beginning of spring.

CollegeFashionista: What do you think is the trend of the season?

Cora Harmon: I think chunkier jewelry and statement pieces are a big trend this season.

CF: What do you like to wear in the spring?

CH: Dresses are my favorite–high-low, maxi, I love them all!

CF: What inspires your style?

CH: I really like the confidence I get when I dress up. So, I guess just the feeling I get when I feel good about my appearance influences my style.

CF: Do you have any favorite designers or brands?

CH: I don’t really have any favorites, I just like to pick up whatever I think is cute.

How To: To coordinate a professional springtime outfit similar to this Fashionista’s you will first need a black T-shirt to wear under a striped jersey jacket. Exchange the red pencil skirt that this Fashionista is wearing with an orchid skater skirt and the black wedge boots with a pair of sleek pointed toe flats. Top off the outfit with a pair of white rose stud earrings and a small, elegant necklace.
