FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Christin Stolz

Fashionista Spotlight

When you have to put on a big over-coat for chilly days, it’s all about choosing pieces that will stand out without being hidden underneath. I spotted this Fashionista on campus, wearing a fabulous long black coat, but it was her accessories that truly caught my eye. She put together an edgy outfit that brought a simple black coat to life–from the pop of red in her headband to her polka-dot scarf to the metal details on her bag.

Name: Christin Stolz

Major: Fashion Communication

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Christin Stolz: My personal style is probably a boho-rock-chic mix. I wear mostly dark colors.

CF: What are your wardrobe staples?

CS: Definitely a pair of black biker boots, my Goosecraft leather jacket, a pair of tights and a long oversized sweater or top. I love rings. I never leave the house without at least two rings on my fingers!

CF: Who are your celebrity style icons and why?

CS: I don’t really have a style icon. I personally need to have a love-at-first-sight moment with my clothes. Without that moment, it’s–for sure–a waste of money. I wouldn’t mind switching closets with Chiara Ferragamo, though, for a day.

CF: What are your favourite trends this season?

CS: My favorite trend this season is a pair of pointed heels. I didn’t like them at first . Yet they look really great with skinny jeans, or even a pair of cut-off shorts. For some reason, too, they make any Fashionista’s feet look amazing.

CF: Which fashion designers do you admire?

CS: At the top of the list is most definitely Alexander Wang. He’s unbelievably talented–edgy, but clean at the same time. I also love Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. The leather and lace elements mixed with comic prints sounded odd, but they worked so well in his fall/winter 2013 collection.

CF: If money weren’t an option, what one item would you love to splurge on?

CS: If money weren’t an option, I’d definitely get myself either a Givenchy Nightingale bag or my all-time favourite Balenciaga Motorcycle bag.

How to: Start off with an extra-long black coat. Then, get on with the accessories. Find a neutral-toned polka-dot scarf and a black bag with gold hardware. Add a pair of black biker boots. Finish off this look with a bright headband, adding a bold pop of colour, and a collection of fun rings.
